let’s chat about
YOUR NEWBORN PHOTOSHOOT
When you have a new baby, your whole world changes. You will quickly begin to understand just how fast moments can pass when you have a little one. As a newborn photographer in Milton Keynes, I know that babies grow and change in an instant, especially in the early days of their life. Booking a newborn photographer will help you to capture these moments in time – moments that pass by so fast. Newborn baby photography is so much more than just pictures. It is the creation of artwork and treasured memories that you and your family will be able to enjoy for years to come. And if you are expecting more than one baby, I’d love to hear from you! Twins, triplets or even more are always welcome.
what happens in a
NEWBORN PHOTOSHOOT
You can expect your newborn portrait session with me to be easy, relaxed and fun. The days following the arrival of a baby are a whirlwind of emotion, visitors and activity. Your photography session is an opportunity to slow down for a short time and savour some precious moments with your growing family. Ideally, newborn photography takes place in the first three weeks of your baby’s life, to ensure that we can capture the sleepy, curled up images that are unique to a very young baby. However, if you have missed this window then don’t despair – older babies are equally as gorgeous and have wonderful, engaging, wide-open eyes to photograph!
My approach as a newborn photographer is relaxed and informal. My studio is cosy, warm and very comfortable and has everything you will need to make you feel welcome. There is a coffee machine and the biscuit tin is always full! I never, ever rush during a newborn session. Your baby is in charge and we will take as many breaks for feeds and cuddles as he or she wants. I understand that you may be nervous about what will happen during your newborn session, but I will take things slowly and explain everything along the way. If you have questions, please do get in touch and ask me. It is a privilege to be able to photograph your little one – thank you for trusting me.
I aim to provide you with the highest level of client care throughout your photographic experience and really want you to look at your photos and remember that you loved the process as much as the finished result
“1000% would recommend Emma was so lovely and welcoming, with the knowledge and care she had for newborns made us feel we were in safe hands to trust her with our firstborn. The photos taken were magical, and we will cherish them forever, thank you again Emma”

FAQ
If you’re wondering what to expect from your newborn photoshoot, you’re not alone.
Welcoming a new baby into your family is a special and emotional time, and it’s completely natural to have questions about a newborn photoshoot.
Here are some of the most common questions I’m asked, to help you feel relaxed, reassured, and ready to enjoy the experience.
When is the best time to book a newborn photoshoot?
This depends on the sort of images you are looking for from your newborn photoshoot. The best time to photograph your newborn in curled up, sleepy poses, is usually within the first month after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those beautiful, relaxed poses.
However, if you would prefer images of your baby awake and alert, then we can leave it later and photograph baby up to around 4 months old.
It also depends on how you and baby are recovering. Some need longer in hospital than others and I work around you, not me.
It’s best to book during pregnancy to secure your space, and then we’ll confirm your session once your baby arrives. However, if your baby is already here, get in touch I’ll try to find a day that works for us both!
What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the session?
Please don’t worry! This is not a problem.
Newborn sessions are baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and settling. Even if your baby is awake for part (or all) of the session, we can still create beautiful, meaningful images.
With years of experience and a calm, gentle approach, I work at your baby’s pace – there’s no pressure or rush. And I have lots of tips and tricks up my sleeve I can use to calm your baby!
Is newborn photography safe?
Yes. Your baby’s safety is something I will never compromise on.
I am fully trained in newborn safety and handling, and every pose is carefully supported and guided. Lots of my photographs are created by putting together several separate images using Photoshop, and I will never risk your little one’s safety and comfort. The studio is kept warm and comfortable, and we take regular breaks to ensure your baby is happy and settled throughout.
You can relax knowing your baby is in safe, experienced hands.
What do we need to bring to the session?
Very little! Most of what we need is already here.
The studio is fully equipped with wraps, blankets, and carefully selected props. I’ll guide you beforehand on anything helpful to bring, such as extra feeds or sentimental items you’d like to include.
All you really need to do is arrive, sit comfortably, and enjoy the experience.
Can parents and siblings be included in the photos?
Absolutely! I will always encourage it.
Your newborn photoshoot isn’t just about your baby, it’s about your growing family and the connection between you. We’ll create a mix of images, including parents, siblings, and those special early connections.
These are often the portraits that become the most treasured over time.
How much does a newborn photoshoot cost?
My prices for digital collections are below, but I also offer prints, wall art and albums. You pay a session fee of £75 for a newborn photoshoot, and then you don’t have to decide how many images, or how you will display them, until you see the finished results. It means that, if you don’t love them, you don’t have to have them.
The booking Fee for a Newborn Session is £75, which includes your session time, use of all my props and outfits. You then come and view your edited images and choose your final images from your gallery. There is no hard-sell – the choice is all yours to make.
