I don’t want to panic anyone, but it’s nearly Mother’s Day!
I’m not sure how it’s crept up on us so quickly, but March the 14th will be here before we know it. Another occasion that’s going to be affected by restrictions and staying safe.
It seems unlikely that we will be able to treat our Mums to anything that takes place outside of the home right now, so I have looked at ways you can still make Mothering Sunday special in and around Olney, where my photography studio is based. (You can thank me later!)
Breakfast in bed
This is always a treat, and a popular way to treat Mum. Whether it’s a full English, or pastries and proper coffee, or some fantastic concoction the kids have dreamt up (think jam soldiers and dippy eggs, with a daffodil in a jam jar and a beaker of lukewarm ribena)
Brunch/lunch and tasty treats!
For an extra special treat, why not pre order some amazing food from Gabriella’s Dolci and Cucina a local, traditional Italian deli restaurant offering authentic Italian dishes and the most incredible cakes . Whether you opt to treat Mum to a fabulous brunch box, amazing cakes, or one of the other wonderful offerings available, you know she will be in for a treat. Gabriella is the genius behind all my cake smash cakes, and I can guarantee that everything she does tastes SUBLIME!
Say it with Flowers!
What Mum doesn’t love a stunning bouquet of flowers, whatever the occasion? KyeLee Flowers offers that and SO much more! From hand tied bouquets, True Grace and Willow and Honey scented candles, Charbonnel chocolates to room sprays, houseplants, teddy bears and dried flowers, the options are almost endless!
Gorgeous and unique gifts
My Little Vintage has a stunning array of gorgeous vintage finds, as well as new handmade offerings. Prints, stoneware, jewellery and ornaments. A treasure trove of gift ideas, with local delivery available.
We may not be able to get out and about right now, but vouchers give the recipient something to look forward to! I guarantee Mums will be over the moon with vouchers for beauty treatments from Beauty at 46, with treatments such as facials, manicures and pedicures, waxing and tinting, chemical peels. After so long without treats like these Mum will feel amazing knowing she can book in when restrictions allow.
What better way to relax and unwind once lockdown ends than a massage? Release all the tensions of the first few months of this year with a massage tailored to the needs of the individual at Little Therapy Space Tanya is a fully qualified, experienced and accredited sports massage therapist, offering a multitude of massages and treatments.
Clothes and gifts
Having nowhere to go has probably meant not buying many new clothes. With an end in sight, a new outfit, accessories or vouchers for either could prove popular with Mums. There are several clothes shops in Olney that are offering vouchers or a click and collect service at the moment! Word of advice though, this is a gift you probably can’t keep secret! We strongly advise you do some detective work to find out where Mum would like vouchers for!
Lots of people have found comfort in photographs during the lockdowns, with being away from their families. I’ve had many customers tell me they can’t wait to return to the studio to update their family portraits. Booking a family session for when it’s allowed is a thoughtful Mother’s day gift that benefits the whole family and I can’t wait to welcome families to my studio again. I am taking bookings for single household groups right now, and for multi households and multi generation sessions later in the summer!
If you are wanting to treat Mums to be, why not secure them a newborn session with me, as a beautiful surprise?
Supporting small local businesses is more important than ever right now. Being able to treat Mum AND buy local is priceless. I hope these ideas will be helpful for you!
