all about
FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY
Whether your family is small or large, calm or chaotic, I’d love to be your family photographer and help to create some beautiful portraits.
let’s chat about
YOUR FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
Whether parent and child, or a huge, multi-generation session, I have tricks to capture the perfect image for you. I can offer posed, studio portraits, informal, fun studio sessions, or even on location, outdoor session!
Before your family session, we will discuss what you want from the session. Whether it is a timeless posed portrait or a fun unposed session, this is about you so I will do what works best for your family!
You can even include your dog in your family photographs – just ask and it can be arranged!
These are the images that will matter to you, decades from now. This is your story.
what happens in a
FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
My approach as your photographer is that your session should be fun and enjoyable. Some family members may be reluctant to dive in and get started straight away. That’s fine – we’ll take the time to have a chat so that everyone is at ease before I pick up my camera.
You can bring a change of clothes if you want a couple of different styles. How about a more formal option, and an informal one? Or a light and a dark option? It doesn’t just have to be group shots – your family session can also include portraits of just the children, just your dog, adults only… whatever you want. If you have any questions, please do get in touch so we can discuss it. It’s my privilege to be your photographer. Thank you for trusting me.
“We are a large family group with a family dog , and we were all made to feel welcome, not rushed and treated with patience and kindness. There are many different trates in our family but the kind and compassionate way we were all treated, everyone enjoyed the whole experience. Would highly recommend and will use again.”

FAQ
If you’re wondering what to expect from your family photoshoot, you’re not alone.
Here are some of the most common questions I’m asked, with honest answers to help you feel relaxed, prepared, and excited for your session.
What should we wear for a family photoshoot?
Choosing what to wear can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t need to be complicated. The key is to coordinate rather than match. Soft, neutral tones and gentle textures work beautifully in the studio and won’t distract from your connection as a family.
I’ll guide you before your session with simple advice and examples, so you feel confident and comfortable. Most importantly, wear something that feels like you. When you feel good, it shows in your images.
How long does a family photography session take?
Family sessions are relaxed and led by your family, not the clock. Most sessions last around 1 hour, which is often the extent of the children’s attention span, but gives us plenty of time for a mix of natural moments, individual portraits, and group images without feeling rushed.
I allow time for little breaks, cuddles, and even the unexpected. And if any of your family needs longer to settle in or struggles with new situations, then I can allow more time. YOU set the pace.
What if my children don’t behave during the session?
Honestly? They don’t need to!
Some of the most beautiful photographs come from real moments. I encourage giggles, cuddles, tickles, and even a little silliness. There’s no pressure for children to sit still or “perform.”
With 18 years of experience photographing families, I know how to create a relaxed environment where children can be themselves, and I gently direct you when needed. You can relax and enjoy the experience, while I take care of everything.
Can we include grandparents or extended family?
Yes and I encourage it!
Including grandparents or extended family adds so much meaning to your photographs. These images often become some of the most treasured, capturing relationships that span generations. It’s an excuse for you all to get together, and spend some quality time as a family.
If you’re planning a larger group, just let me know in advance so I can plan the session to make sure everyone is included beautifully. I’ve had up to 20 people in my studio at once! But I do need some notice before you show up with an army!
Where does the family photoshoot take place?
Your session takes place at my studio in Olney, near Milton Keynes. It’s a calm, welcoming space designed to help you feel comfortable.
The studio is perfect for creating timeless, studio portraits with a focus on your connection. I have a variety of backdrops so if you have a special outfit you want to wear, or some decor at home you want your portraits to work with, then I can find something that will work!
