Fun, mess and memories with a cake smash for your little one’s birthday!

Your little one is approaching a milestone birthday – what a fantastic achievement to celebrate with a Cake Smash Photo Shoot! Your little one has changed and learned more in their first year than they will at any other time in their lives. They have an emerging personality, are taking their first steps and are exploring the world around them.

Capture the Light Cake Smash Sessions are a LOT of fun! You choose a colour scheme or theme before your session, and I provide decorations and even a cake to match! Whether you want a bright rainbow, or a subtle natural look to your session, I can provide everything you will need. Cakes are baked by the amazingly talented Gabriella, whose bistro and cafe is based in the centre of Olney, and was voted the best bakery in Buckinghamshire! Take a look at some of her beautiful cakes on her FACEBOOK PAGE. If you are worried about any allergies your baby may have, we can either provide an allergy-friendly cake or come up with an alternative instead. Jelly, fruit, or even a paint splash can be used to create some amazing images and to create an amazing mess!

How it works

Your little one will enjoy exploring the cake with their hands or a spoon. They can make as much or as little mess as they want to. After this, your baby can have a splash in some bubbles in my miniature bathtub – which makes for some fantastic images and lots of splashy fun! We finish off with a cuddle in a warm towel and lots of amazing memories! If you prefer to have a simpler session, without a cake, then we can celebrate your little one’s birthday with a simpler set-up, or with a fruit smash – anything you want!

Birthday portraits aren’t just for one year olds! If your child is heading to their second third or even 10th birthday, we can design something just for them that will be loads of fun and will create lots of memories! Whether with or without a cake, or even to include afternoon tea or something alcoholic (for over 18s!), birthday photography fun can be for every age.

This is also a great opportunity to update your family images, too. Mum, dad and siblings are all welcome to join in, or we can create some separate family photographs, without the cake, before or after all the mess!
