“How do we schedule an appointment when I don’t know when baby will arrive?”

I take bookings for newborn sessions for Newborn Photography in Olney months in advance, but often get asked how I do this. When only 5% of newborns actually arrive on their due date, it’s a reasonable question to ask! Naturally, I don’t get many newborns that arrive when they are supposed to, some can be 5 weeks early, some arrive 2 weeks late.

So how do we schedule a session when we don’t know when baby will arrive? I put you into my diary for your due month.  I take a limited amount of sessions per month (another reason to book early as I’m sometimes booked up months in advance) so that I have the flexibility when baby arrives. After I reach my total for pre-bookings I don’t take on any more babies that month.

When your baby arrives I ask you to contact me as soon as you can – within a couple of days if all is OK. I’ll then offer you a couple of dates to choose from for your session, hopefully within the first couple of weeks of your baby’s life.

I highly recommend booking your session after your 12 or 20 week scan as I do book up quickly. Also newborns are best photographed from 7-21 days old and I find that when baby arrives all time goes out the window and before you know it that window is gone! By scheduling early you have everything organised and ready for when baby chooses to arrive!
